Our apartments are located in the center of Athens, within walking distance of some of the city’s most famous attractions.

First stop? Monastiraki, a vibrant and picturesque neighborhood. Here, you can take a walk at the flea market, which is nearby the metro station, and uncover antiques, unique jewelry, and colorful garments alongside captivating works of art – all at great prices. Also, if you feel like you want to relax and enjoy a great view, try one of the many rooftops where you can have a coffee or a night-out drink.

Moving on, nearby is Plaka, a charming neighborhood with allays, where you will find a lot of traditional taverns. Plaka is a paradise for shoppers, filled with small stores offering local crafts and souvenirs, the perfect mementos to take home. Don’t miss Dionysiou Areopagitou Street, a pedestrian street that will take you a walk through the center of Athens.

For a taste of modern Athens cleverly intertwined with its historical roots, head to Psirri. Here, captivating neoclassical buildings share the scene with vibrant street art and trendy vintage shops. Explore the charming streets, each corner offering a unique discovery. When hunger strikes, take a break at one of the many bars or taverns.

Do you feel like shopping? Ermou Street is here for you. Athens’ most famous shopping spot is just a 2-minute walk away. Here, you can find both international brands and hidden gems showcasing local, handcrafted treasures. This pedestrianized street conveniently connects two of the city’s crown jewels – Monastiraki and Syntagma Square.

Syntagma Square is one of the gems in this list. It is one of the most central places in Athens. Grand historical buildings line its perimeter and also, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, a tribute to Greek heroes, stands proudly in the square’s center.

Facing the square is the imposing Hellenic Parliament, a symbol of Greek democracy. Witness the changing of the guard ceremony performed with precision by the Evzones, the Parliament’s elite guards, that happens every hour.

Need some time away from the hustle of the town? The National Garden awaits. This large area, located right next to the Hellenic Parliament, offers peace and relaxation. Have a walk there, discover all kinds of different flowers and trees, check out the fountains, the lakes and the ducks that leave in there.

Right next to the National Garden lies Zappeion Hall, a historical landmark that stands as a testament to Greek culture. This majestic building often plays host to conferences, concerts, exhibitions, and other events. Take a walk through the beautiful Zappeion gardens and feel the vibes.

The first thing in our list is, of course, Acropolis. At the top of the sacred hill, Acropolis stands as a testament to the grandeur of ancient Greek civilization. Let’s explore it!

Parthenon: Acropolis’ crowning jewel, Parthenon, is a temple dedicated to Athena, the city’s patron goddess. Admire its architectural perfection and the sculptural adornments, depicting gods, heroes, and mythical creatures in exquisite detail.

Erechtheion: A temple dedicated to both Athena and Poseidon. It is known for the Caryatids, the women figures that gracefully support the architrave.

Propylaea: With six cοlumns, build in the Doric order, Propyleae serve as a grand gateway to the Acropolis.

Theatre of Dionysus: The world’s oldest surviving theater, where tragedy and comedy were born.

Odeon of Herodes Atticus: A Roman-era open-air theater, with exceptional acoustics.  Today we still have many musical performances and festivals.

Let’s not forget about the Acropolis Museum, There, you can find all the masterpieces that once adorned the Acropolis. Remember to book your tickets in advance, so that you will skip the long queues.

Close enough from the Acropolis area, is Arch of Hadrian, a Roman arch erected in honor of Emperor Hadrian. Also, there you can find Temple of Olympian Zeus, a colossal structure that was once the largest temple in Greece. Although only 15 columns and fragments remain, you can still feel the grandeur of ancient Athens.

We should not forget about the Panathenaic Stadium, a symbol of Olympic Spirit, also known as the Kallimarmaro. Built from white marble in the 4th century BC, this stadium hosted the first modern Olympic Games in 1896. Apart from the historical value, this stadium will impress you with the design, since is an architectural masterpiece of ancient Greece.

While you are at Monastiraki, you can take a walk through the Roman Agora, one of Athens’ most significant archaeological sites. Explore the ruins of temples, stoas, and basilicas that once served as the civic center of the Roman city. Nearby you can find the Ancient Agora, an open-air space that once was the economical center of the town.

Last but not least, nearby, at Thissio, the Temple of Hephaestus stands as the best-preserved temple in Greece after the Parthenon. Built in the 5th century BC, this impressive structure honors Hephaestus, the god of fire and metalworking.

First stop, Anafiotika, a charming neighborhood located on the slopes of the Acropolis. Get lost in the maze of narrow streets, discovering hidden cafes and restaurants tucked away in corners. The uphill climb is well worth it, as you’ll be rewarded with a scenery that could be straight out of a Cycladic island.

Combine history, nature, and panoramic view with a visit to Filopappou Hill. You can see a wide view that starts from the Acropolis and ends to the Saronic Gulf. Apart from the breathtaking view, take some time to admire the monument of Philopappus, a Roman prince of the 2nd century AD, perched atop the hill.

Capture a photo at the cave said to be Socrates’ prison before his execution. Follow the path and reach the Pnyx Monument, and don’t miss the Heptapyrgion, a medieval fortress with seven towers built on the ruins of a Byzantine fort.

Another great spot to enjoy the view, is Lycabettus Hill, the second-highest hill in Athens, offers another exceptional vantage point. Enjoy a coffee or drink there, along with the view. Lycabettus is an ideal destination for romantic walks, relaxation in nature, and capturing unforgettable photographs.

Take a walk at the Kolokotroni street and choose among a variety of places to enjoy. For example, if you are in a mood of beer, you can try out Barley Cargo or if you want to explore a hidden gem, try out the hidden yard of Bartesera. Athens is full of life, rest assure that you will find a place that suits your likes and dislikes!

Concerning foot, the first you need to try out is the famous Gyros. At Street Souvlaki, or Τylixto Μonasthraki you can find lot’s of options in the menu. If you want to try out Greek traditional cuisine, then try out Filema, Kuzina or Ella Urban Greek Cuisine.

For those who want something more spicy, there are a lot’s of Mexican cuisine options, such us Mamacita, where you can sit on a table and enjoy your meal along with a nice cocktail. If you are up to street food, try Etnico Street Food or Poncho Tacos.

Another option for street food, if you like noodles, is StreetWok. If you are a burger fan, try Food Str. Or, if you like Italian, check out OVIO or Cardinale. And of course, after food the need for something sweet strikes. Try out one of the most famous profiterole at Choureal, where you can choose the ingredients yourself. If you want to sit at a beautiful square to enjoy a pastry, you can try out Zuccherino or take a walk to Psirry, where you will find Nancy’s sweet home. Also, don’t forget to have a gelato, at DaVinci Gelato.
